The AS220 Printshop has a November full of new and exciting classes. On Thursday, November 14th and 21st from 6-10pm is Intro to Bookbinding with Jieun Reiner.
The first class will begin with a simple accordion binding. Learn the basics of paper folding and gluing, skills that will help participants move to the more difficult binding, the case bound book, a multiple page sewn book with hardcovers. This elegant and sturdy hardcover binding is perfect for blank journals. Students will leave with 2 beautiful books, an accordion and a case bound journal, as well as the knowledge to make these books at home.
On Monday, November 18th from 6-10pm, we are offering a new class in Cyanotype. Taught by Sam Thompson, this photographic printing process is simple to master and creates beautiful and distinctive cyan-blue prints.
Monotype: Drawing from Life meets on Friday November 15th from 6-10pm with Myron Rubenstein. This class introduces the concepts of monoprinting by drawing from a nude model. A monoprint is a unique single print made by drawing or painting ink onto a smooth surface or matrix (such as Plexiglass) that is then offset onto a sheet of paper.
