Instructor Spotlight: Lara Henderson
Lara Henderson is a book artist, a printmaker, and a teacher. She holds degrees in Graphic Design and Letterform and Book Arts/Printmaking. As AS220’s Industries Director, Henderson oversees the printshop and media arts facilities and teaches classes. We talked with Henderson to find out why she’s hooked on books and what she loves about AS220.

New Toys!
AS220 Labs has a new addition to their collection of tools: a brand-new Shapeoko milling machine. We won the machine in a national competition by Inventables, a supply store for the artistically and technologically minded. The company selected an organization in each state for the prize, and they chose AS220 to represent Rhode Island.

Carey Goodrich was born and raised along the shores of Connecticut and Massachusetts. She graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, GA with a BFA in Photography and Printmaking in 2013.

Learn to Silkscreen
Screenprinting is a versatile process that can be used to transfer graphic images to paper, wood, and fabric. It is ideal for making t-shirts, posters, coasters, greeting cards/stationery, and more. The AS220 Printshop offers monthly classes in screenprinting. The next class is Thursday July 10th and 17th from 6-10pm.

Cyanotype Workshop
On Wednesday, June 18th from 6-10pm, the AS220 Printshop is offering a course in Cyanotype. Cyanotype, a photographic printing process that results in a cyan-blue print, is the perfect place to start an education in alternative (non-silver) photographic processes.

ROB DUARTE ARTIST TALK: THURSDAY, JUNE 12TH
Rob Duarte is AS220's Artist in Residence for the month of June! He'll be working at the AS220 Labs working on a project involving custom laser-etching onto 35mm motion picture film stock and a DIY-built telecine machine for viewing. He'll be talking about this, and more, on Thursday at the Labs!

Leah Beeferman hails from Cambridge, MA and travels from her Brooklyn home to be this month’s Artist in Residence. With an undergraduate degree from Brown and an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth, Beeferman is armed with a great number of ideas and mediums for her abstract art.
