Intro to Arduino
Sunday April 7 + 14, 2-5pm

Arduino is an open source platform designed to help artists, educators, and designers develop affordable prototypes for interactive design.  If you’ve never touched code and want to build something, this workshop is for you!

Tuesday April 9, 6-9pm

Learn how to make professional quality stamps in minutes on the Epilog lasercutter

NEW CLASS:  Intro to HTML and CSS
Tuesday April 16, 23, 30, 6-9pm
3 classes, 3 hours each, where students who are just starting out learning web development basics can get their hands around core concepts to build an interactive and mobile-friendly web page.

NEW CLASS:  Intro to the Woodshop
Saturday April 20 + 27, 10-1pm
No robots involved, just a straight-up intro to to the AS220 woodshop.  This class will train you on basic safely and shop techniques for the drill press, bandsaw, belt sander, and hand-held powder tools.

Learn to Code: Intro to P5JS
Sunday April 21 + 28, 2-5pm
What  is code, and how do we write it? This is an introduction to programming simple animations and audio/visual experiences for the web. We will be using p5.js, a JavaScript library based on Processing, for creating programs that run in a web browser.

Media Arts

Use the Adobe Creative Suite to make beautiful graphics and explore new offerings in podcasting and photography.

Darkroom Intensive
Sunday April 7 + 14, 10-2pm
Learn your way around the Paul Krot Community Darkroom. From mixing chemicals to understanding enlargers, gain a hands on introduction to traditional black and white photo printing. Students should bring two rolls of exposed black and white film to class to develop.

NEW CLASS:  Intro to DSLR Video
Thursday April 11 + 18, 6-9pm
In this introductory course on DSLR Video, students will learn the basics principles of using DSLR cameras as a tool to help convey certain ideas. Simultaneously, students will look at the role of the cinematographer, different shot types and lighting techniques, and will gain a greater understanding of one of the most important pieces of video/filmmaking.

Cyanotype Printmaking
Saturday April 13, 10-1pm
Cyanotype, a photographic printing process that results in a cyan-blue print, is the perfect place to start an education in alternative (non-silver) photographic processes.

Music Production
Saturday April 13 + 20, 2-5 pm
Music Production will offer a space where both solo and collaboration projects emerge through the process of learning music components, song arrangement, editing, and mastering through Apple Mac’s Logic Pro X software. Participants will leave with MP3s of their own songs made from scratch!

Intro to Podcasting
Weds April 17, 24, May 1, 6-9pm
Learn about different kinds of podcasts, what makes a good podcast, and go over the basics of recording and editing a podcast episode using Hindenburg Journalist, and publishing a podcast using a service like ShoutEngine, Libsyn, or Podbean.  

NEW CLASS: Medium Format Photography
Saturday April 20 + 27, 10-2pm
A comprehensive introduction to medium format photography, lighting and metering, and darkroom processing as it pertains to making prints and developing film.

NEW CLASS:  Acetate Pre-press: Making Films for Silkscreen

Sunday, April 7, 11-1pm

Do you want to make better silkscreen films?   This workshop will cover how to output large format pictorico films on the Epson and Canon printers in Media Arts and do simple color correction for high quality films to be used in our shop.

Intro to Silkscreen: Weeknight
Wednesdays, April 10 + 17, 6-9pm
Screenprinting is a versatile process that can be used to transfer graphic images to paper, wood, and fabric. It is ideal for making prints, posters, coasters, greeting cards, stationery, and more.  This workshop will certify you to book time in the silkscreen studio.

Big Press Training
Saturday April 13 + 14, 10-3pm
Learn how to operate and print on the 5×9’ Takach etching press. This class is ideal for intermediate to advanced level printmakers that have experience in either monotype, etching, or relief. Familiarity with a traditional etching press is required.  

Intro to Letterpress: Polymer Plates
Saturday April 20 + 27, 10-1pm
Design and print you own images for letterpress using a light-sensitive polymer plate.  You will leave with a working knowledge of inking, pressure and roller height adjusting, registration, and cleaning.   This class will certify you to book the Vandercook letterpress for independent work.

Silkscreen Intensive
Sunday, April 28, 10-6pm
A comprehensive introduction to screen printing covering stencil design, troubleshooting, registration, and proper print procedure.  Design and print a multiple color print with a maximum dimension of 8″x10″. This workshop will certify you to book time in the silkscreen studio.
