At the April 17 Providence Geeks, Thorne Sparkman from the Slater Technology Fund will be presenting a talk titled It’s All Geek to Me: Evaluating Tech Through the Eyes of the Customer. Thorne is the managing director of the Slater Technology Fund, where he focuses on the earliest stage of company creation, often working with university-based teams commercializing research.

The Slater Technology Fund is an evergreen not-for-profit seed fund dedicated to supporting new venture development in Rhode Island. They invest in early-stage technology ventures founded by entrepreneurs who have the vision, courage, and tenacity to build companies that aim to achieve transformational impact in the industries or markets they serve.

Here at Providence Geeks, we’re all about choice. You can RSVP at MeetupFacebook, or truth be told, just show up. Your RSVP helps us know in advance how many people to expect, but RSVPing is not mandatory.

  • AS220’s restaurant is undergoing renovations, so the restaurant will not be open. The bar will be open, though. Please feel free to eat before you arrive, or bring your own food and eat there. There are lots of takeout/delivery options downtown.
  • We’ve got a Slack team. If you’d like to join, follow this link.
  • Would you like to be part of Providence Geeks’ future? Brian and Joel are looking to add to the team. If you think you have what it takes to be a co-organizer of Providence Geeks as it enters its 14th year of great dinners, exciting speakers, and stimulating conversation, fill out this survey and let’s talk. We’ve got some great ideas for expanding what is already a very successful, more than 1000 strong community of Geeks, and we’d love to have you shaping the future with us.
